Let's go for it: 20 000 to ESF in Malmö 2008
Today is the last day of submitting proposals to the ESF program. A new
phase in the preparation starts. It is time to mobilise 20 000 participants
or more to all the seminars, the demonstration and many other activities
that will take place in Malmö 17th to 21st of September 2008.
We now call upon everyone to contribute to this mobilisation effort. The
European Contact group together with the Mobilisation Group for Sweden and
the NOC board have now started a joint effort to give momentum to the
mobilisation which has the goal of getting 10 000 participants from Sweden
and 10 000 from the rest of Europe. We need your help in making these
efforts effective and ask for all kind of contribution to this task, smal or
big, coming wiht new ideas or making something out of what is already there:
1. We now regularly make newsletters and collect mailing adresses to send
them to both for all countries and the European level. Transform!
Contributed almost 5 000 addresses to organisation that had organised
seminars at ESF before which we now are using. Please send us more
addresses!
2. Give reports on how the mobilisation is going on in your movement or
country that can be used in the newsletter and other information channells.
Send it by email to enlargmentgroup@gmail.com. You can also contribute
directly on Openesf.net, under Contactgroup for Europe and the World
to the left on the first page. Here you can update mobilisation information
for different coubtries or movements under MAPPING TRANSNATIONAL ESF
MOBILISATION 2008 or add your own contribution so everybody can share ideas.
3. Give support to the Central and Eastern European participation by
contributing to the Solidarity fund directly or by selling ESF pins.
4. Share ideas and make commitments for further mobilisation during the
European preparatory assembly in Kiev in the enlergement process towards the
North in Malmö 2008 and the East in Istanbul 2010.
Snowballs methods
We are also planning to start more snow ball mobilisation efforts to engage
both individuals and organisations. Facebook is such an indoividual methos
which now has resulted in 1 200 persons stating their presence at ESF, you
can see them all at www.facebook.com. We also will promote on the website
many possibilites for individuals to down load material as leaflets, order
solidarity fund pins, subscribe to the newsletter, get inspired to write
letter to the editor about ESF and other ways. The same for organisations.
We in the Nordic organisations Committee will do what we can toegtehr with
all of you to contribute to make ESF 2008 an important step in developing
our joint process making another Europé and another woprld pssible.
