Description of the outcome
Although ALTERNATIVE MEDIA was marginalised in the ESF, an initiative was made to strengthen cooperation through open spaces and enhancing the Eurotopia framework - which itself is an long-term outcome of the larger ESF process.
Getting a single session to program was near-impossible and the activity finally consisted of two panels of 1,5 hours Friday evening. The venue for the Alternative media session was for only 60 people, even though one for 150 had been booked and payed. Upto 50 people were not allowed into the session and others were told after an hour to leave.
It seems that the ESF does not understand the crucial role of alternative media in the process in disseminating outcomes and creating communities.
