Working for social inclusion and social rights - welfare, public services and common goods for all
Description of the outcome
Objectives:
• Bringing citizens, social movements and trade unions together to build a political alternative.
• Set the political agenda for the European parliament elections 2009 and the Swedish local, regional and national elections in 2010 and beyond.
• Contribute to a stronger citizen involvement and awareness on welfare issues
Activities:
1) Citizen Alliance for Common Welfare-weekend in March 2009
• Testimonies/witness statements about the current state of welfare and public services. Building a common understanding.
• "Kick-off" for building a political alternative from below, through citizen and social movement dialogue, taking its starting point in the ideas and aspirations of citizens and employees. A vitalised welfare for all.
2) Be part of European Public Services campaign leading up to the European Parliament elections in 2009 by designing a common questionnaire to politicians on relevant EU-issues related to common welfare and labour rights.
