Instructions on how to propose network meetings, thematic areas and other events linked to the ESF programme.
In order to facilitate for organisations and networks who want to contribute to the program of European Social Forum in Malmö, we have made some guidelines for organizers of activities. These are the different ways of proposing activities.
Activities organised by the Nordic Organizing Comittee
1. Seminars and
workshops - through the general registration process (closed since 5th of June)
2. Open Space –
a meeting space without activities planned beforehand – register
on the spot during the ESF
3. Cultural activities - organised by the Nordic Organizing Committee (closed since 14th of May)
Other activities
4a. Special activities – seminars/workshops (through the general registration process which closed on the 5th of June) – e.g. DGB Youth space, European Peace Action etc.
4 b. Special activities – network meetings, assemblies etc., not through the general registration process.

the programme newspaper? - Yes, under certain conditions.
Venue? Equipment? - (Limited) help
from the NOC.
Deadline June 23rd. Email to program@esf2008.org and logistik@esf2008.org. In your e-mail, please specify:

What kind of activity do you want to organize? (e.g. seminars, workshops, camping, banner painting, food etc etc.)

What times do you want to have the activity? (e.g. a few hours, a few days, the whole time, etc etc.)

Do you have your own rooms? If not, what size rooms would you need? What technical equipment?

Do you need other resources? (e.g. a quay for a boat, a field for camping, etc.)
Please note that this is not a guarantee from NOC to fix these practical things for you – the more you can arrange yourselves the better!
5. External (self-organised) activities – e.g. ESF Action Network, Via Campesina/FOEE camp, etc.
In the programme newspaper? - Yes, under some conditions.
Venue? Equipment? - We assume that all logistics, rooms etc are arranged by yourselves.

What days/times will you have the activity? (e.g. a few hours, a few days, the whole time, etc etc.)
- 6. Thematic spaces – generally seminars and workshops will not be grouped. Stalls and network meetings, on the other hand, will be grouped to the extent possible. If you want your stall to be part of a thematic area - please specify which one in the stall registration.

Examples of already planned thematic areas are Latinamerica, Labour Square, Labour Youth Space, European Peace Action, Environment. The logistics and program group will try to accomodate all requests, but hold the right to group requests together.
