ESF program 2008
The final program of the 2008 ESF in Malmö consists of 250 seminars, workshops and assemblies, over 400 cultural activities - films, theatre, concerts, poetry, you name it - inaguration, parade, party and closing session. It is all in all the most extensive program ever for the ESF. And of course, more than this, there will be loads of side activities, informal meetings, manifestations and political activism. Please note that there are still some mistakes in the program and changes will probably occur until the forum. To make up do date program information available we will soon have a searchable online version of the program, where you can search by theme, day and time.
Making another Europe possible!
East and West together, building alliances for struggles and alternatives
The ESF program is made by and for organizations and social movements willing to work for another Europe and another world. It is the result of over half a year of work, with over 800 proposals for program activities from all around Europe, merged into 250 seminars, workshops and assemblies.
The main title of the 2008 ESF program is: "Making another Europe possible! East and West together, building alliances for struggles and alternatives." The activities are divided into 10 thematic areas. For more inormation about the program process and how the program have been developed see Making the program.
The forum will start on the 17th at 6pm with an inauguration, speakers and performers from all over the world, from the local to the global. The cultural program starts beforehand at 12 noon. From Thursday to Friday there will be seminars and workshops all day, from 9.30am - 9pm, on Saturday and Sunday from 9.30am - 12.30am. Saturday is the day for the big parade/demonstration, leaving from Rosengård in the afternoonand ending up in Pildammsparken to finish off the day with a big party. During Sunday there will be a closing event from 1.30pm to 4pm, with presentations and and open discussions around the results from the forum days.
