Trends and Risks of the Nuclear ESS (European Spallation Source) in Lund, Sweden.
Environmental organizations in Sweden and Denmark have long been critical of the ESS (www.esss.se), which is a nuclear installation, especially due to the safety concerns of its one or more radioactive heavy metal targets (probably about 35 tonnes of mercury), as well as its large size and costs, enormous electricity consumption and the possibility of performing transmutation research.
