East-West alliances and relationships
How can East-West conflicts in Europe be solved? This seminar includes telling stories from East and West of different oppressions and life styles in a process of engaged listening. It also looks into East-West conflicts on political relations, energy, security and ideology, as well as how movements in Post-Soviet countries better can integrate into an All-European movement for alternatives.

The first hour of the workshop will be presented by Centrum Edukacji Obywatelskiej, United to End Racism, FolesHillsfields Vision Project, and Listeners Without Borders. The description of that first hour (an interactive workshop) follows:
Eastern and Western Europe have been separated by wars, different political systems, different oppressions, and different live styles. Part of the separation has been based on misinformation and lies told about our own political systems and
"the others" by the governments, commercial institutions, and media in both East and West. Although we now share this same market economy and democracy, we live different lives. Our different experiences divide us and make working together difficult. To come together we each need to tell our stories and the stories of our families while the other listens. This workshop introduces a process of engaged listening and emotional release as tools of healing, based on Re-evaluation Counseling. In this way we can build alliances and strength our personal imagination, power, and commitment to work together for the world in which resources are equality distributed and people are respected. In the workshop participants will see the process demonstrated as well as have several opportunities to try out this process for themselves.
United to End Racism (UER) is an group of people of all ages and backgrounds, in thirty different countries, who are dedicated to eliminating racism in the world. We understand that eliminating racism is necessary for humankind to progress. We are committed to ending racism, and we support the efforts of other groups to accomplish this goal. UER is a project of the Re-evaluation Counseling Communities and was formed in 2001 as we prepared to participate in the United Nations World Conference Against Racism in Durban, South Africa. The Re-evaluation Counseling Communities have been working to end racism since the seventies.
