United to End Racism, together with Centrum Edukacji Obywatelskiej, FolesHillsfields Vision Project, and Listeners Without Borders, presents this interactive workshop.

In order to truly transform society we need to not only change institutions, but also heal the damage that the oppressive society has done to all of us. Living in this oppressive society has left us with distrust, fear, timidity, anger, grief and difficulties in working together effectively and in being able to come up with effective ways to end oppressive policies and institutions. Many attempted revolutions have failed because they could not engage people in a process to remove the scars of oppression and oppressive societies. This workshop will address how combining action, theory, and healing can create a powerful tool for world change. Activists and organizers from more than twenty countries have found the tools of Re-evaluation Counseling to be useful in supporting themselves and the people with whom they work. These tools involve engaged listening and emotional release and can be used to support people through difficult times and deal with burnout as well as to help people reclaim their full intelligence, power, and joy for life as we work toward a world without oppression. In the workshop participants will see the process demonstrated as well as have several opportunities to try out this process for themselves.

United to End Racism (UER) is an group of people of all ages and backgrounds, in thirty different countries, who are dedicated to eliminating racism in the world. We understand that eliminating racism is necessary for humankind to progress. We are committed to ending racism, and we support the efforts of other groups to accomplish this goal. UER is a project of the Re-evaluation Counseling Communities and was formed in 2001 as we prepared to participate in the United Nations World Conference Against Racism in Durban, South Africa. The Re-evaluation Counseling Communities have been working to end racism since the seventies.
