This workshop is about the role of researchers, activists, historians and librarians in the construction of societal, cultural and informational commons on the road to another Europe. Topics to be taken up (examples): Freedom of information and public libraries in the age of 'the war on terrorism'. Who writes our history? Activist and militant research on social movements.

Librarians for informational commons and another Europe also arranges the workshop THE LIBRARY STRIKES BACK on Saturday, 20 September 11 am - 14 pm. Venue: Room C 528 (on the fifth floor), Malmö University, Nordenskjöldsgatan 10 (near the Main Railway Station). SPEAKERS include Andrew Cranfield, the director of EBLIDA, Siv Wold-Karlsen (prel.), Arwid Lund (Världsbiblioteket) and Mikael Böök (NIGD).
