Participatory and direct democracy
In 2001 the Brazilian city of Porto Alegre became famous for hosting the Social Forum process and starting a participatory budget. The aim of this seminar is to explore the new global challenges of participatory democracy and how can we move from the crisis of legitimacy of political institutions to experiment with true direct participation and citizens engagement.
