Tax havens, capital flight, tax evasion and the crisis of Financing for Development
Tax evasion and capital flight is a global problem widening the divide between countries. Since 1975 Africa has lost $607 billion due to illicit capital flight. International and national measures exist but have not yet gained sufficient political support. In November the UN will review the 2002 Monterrey consensus on Financing for Development in Doha. Tax issues must be a focus on this agenda.
